A claim should be reported as soon as possible. A patient or another entitled person must report the incident within four weeks of becoming aware of it. Where there is a valid health-related or other reason, the time limit is extended by the corresponding period.

After the claim has been reported, the insurer or its authorised claims handler may request additional documents and explanations. The indemnity decision is made on the basis of the policy, the insurance terms and conditions, and the law.
